As soon as I knew that our theme was oppressed, I instantly had an idea pop into my head. You can interpret my image as you will, but my goal is to bring across how lucky that we are to live in freedom, unlike our sisters in other countries.

Sarah’s image matched mine perfectly! I am so glad that we got matched together as we both (I think) have a similar “bold” style in our images.

This is a diptych project by a group of female photographers who have known each other a long time on Flickr. The project matches two of us together each week with a different theme to interpret how we want, on an individual basis. We then create a diptych using each of our photographs.

I was paired with Bee Brady for this week in the Divine Diptych Project. Our theme this week was “absurd”. I have to say that this was the hardest theme I have had to interpret so far! I think you could almost say my image is just absurd…and that is that. Although I do think that I look like a doll..maybe?

It’s hard wanting something and not being able to find it, or finding something close to what you want but not close enough, and consequently having to pass it by or give it up.

The mind wants one thing but the body wants another….

Our theme this week was “tactile” which we interpreted as “touch”. We have been talking about how sometimes there is a want for the touch of another and this where the concept for this collaboration came from. It was decided that we would both use colour but the formats were still up in the air. I shot a couple of different shots in different formats and sent them to Michelle and let her decide which one went best with her shot. I really LOVE this collaboration…especially the emotion that is being conveyed in each photo and how well they work together.
